Death Valley Delight Hot Springs Tecopa Tourism to California

Death Valley Delight Hot Springs Tecopa Tourism to California

Coming to relax and vacation at Delgiht Hot Springs (Located in Tecopa California, right by Death Valley) is becoming a pretty regular thing for us now.  Especially since it is only about an hour away from Henderson, NV.  Coming from Los Angeles, it is about a 4 hour drive.  This actually isn’t my first post about Delight Hot Springs, however this time the focus will be a little more about the RV and the venue itself this time, as opposed to how wonderful the people and the surroundings were on our last trip, which could have turned into a disaster because we lost our car keys!

Yes, that is correct.  Instead of a bungalow or fixed unit this time, we were able to squeeze a reservation in for one of their best RV’s.  I will start by saying the RV is awesome!  Very clean, cozy, roomy, and well maintained.  Before I continue with the pros and cons of this RV, watch this short clip below of the interior!

Ok, so back to the RV.  Honestly I was a little concerned about the weather.  Was pretty cold the day we arrived.  Surprisingly, the RV was insualted really well.  Even with the heater set at Low, it was really comfortable inside. Not cold at all.  Mind you, outside it was so cold the water tank froze over night.  We actually had to wait until sun up before the water thawed, and we were able to use the sink again =).  The kitchen, dining area, shower, were all super clean and fully functional.  The downside of the RV?  Whenever someone moves, it feels like there is an earthquake.  As you can see from the pictures, the RV’s are actually set stationary on wood and on the hitch.  But still it does not keep the RV from moving.  When I was in the bathroom, and my wife was brushing her teeth at the kitchen sink, it reminded me of being in an airplane bathroom during turbulence.

Other than that, I don’t really see a downside of the RV.  I actually prefer the RV over the bungalow or the fixed units.  We will definitely try to get this same RV the next time we go to Delight Hot Springs.

What is a road trip without a Barbecue?  Regardless of the type of unit you decide to go with at Delight Hot Springs, each unit is equipped with a charcoal bbq.   Not much to say about these bbq’s.  They are charcoal bbq’s, large enough for the whole family.  You have to bring your own charcoal.  Anyone who barbecue’s knows that everything tastes better outdoors =)

This is a small side note, but for those of you who do not want to grill on your own, you are in luck.  There is a hidden gem about 5 minutes away from the hot springs.  It is called Steak and Beer.  We found this place on our last trip here.  From what I know, the owner/chef here used to work at a big hotel (Possibly Las Vegas Chef?).  He moved from the city and started this place here.  I think this place is only open from 5:00pm to 9:00pm?  This guy is pretty awesome ( As long as you have a sense of humor ).  Talked crap to me because I asked if he had French Fries LOL!  Now, beware the food here WILL spoil your taste buds!  We ordered 3 plates, and ALL 3 plates were delicious!!!  So, if you are in the area, and even if you brought your own meat to grill, definitely give this place a try.  You will not regret it!  The pictures really do not do justice to how good the food is here.

I think weather plays a big role on how you will enjoy your time here.  Since it was cold this time, we spent more time in the private hot springs then we did in the big public one.  It was so relaxing and was a perfect balance of hot spring water, mixed with cold air coming in from the open roof top.

The public pools outside are warm and feel good too in the cold, however after your are done, the cold is no joke!

The private hot springs are also equipped with a shower stall so that you can wash up before returning to your RV.  The RV’s are about a 1 minute walk from the pool areas, so it’s very close.  Aside from the big main pool, with I think 4 jacuzzi’s connected to it, I think there are 4 private hot spring areas that you can access.  This place is pretty good about capacity.  Although the rooms and reservations are full a lot of the times, we never had an issue with getting in the pool area, or having to wait too long to access a private hot spring.

I took this picture of myself right when the sun was rising in front of our RV.  I’m not really too much of a “Nature” guy, however I do know how to appreciate the views and the open air, and just getting away from the city.  Especially as someone who works in front of computer all day.

Now this part is debatable, but for the people who are like me and love to drive, that is the icing on the cake for me.

There are a couple sections where the roads are narrow, and the cars get pretty close to each other, but overall the drive is pretty open and pleasant.

I know I mentioned this in my last post about this area too, but the only thing you have to keep in mind is there is NO Cellular Reception out here.  Not only at the resort area, but for most of the drive in this area, and the surrounding areas here.  No Cellular Reception.  I stress this a lot because we had an incident when some of our family came here, and lost their car keys, and had no phone reception……was a hair pulling experience.  So I strongly urge you let someone know before coming to this area, family or friend (Or enemy =).  If you are coming in the summer, make sure you have plenty of water.  Having some emergency snacks will be pretty good also.  This last one is pretty obvious, but we tend to fill up our Gas tanks, and check tire pressure before coming in to this area too.
